Our story in Bristol

Europa Blinds opened on Gloucester Road, Bristol, in 1976. Our own team measures, supplies, and fits made to measure blinds and plantation shutters for homes, landlords, and businesses across Bristol, North Somerset, and the wider South West. The principle behind the business hasn't changed in nearly 50 years: if you're going to do something for someone's home, do it properly.

What started as a family business has stayed a family business. We’re still independent, still based on Gloucester Road, and still personally involved in every job we take on. We’re not a franchise, a call centre, or a national brand with a local postcode. We’re your neighbours – the people you can meet at the showroom to talk to, or message directly when you need to.

Over the decades, we’ve watched Bristol grow and change. We’ve fitted blinds in new-builds in Patchway, shutters in Georgian townhouses in Clifton, and Velux blinds in loft conversions all across BS6 and BS7. We’ve seen trends come and go. What’s kept us here is the same thing that keeps our customers coming back: we get the detail right. We measure carefully, manufacture precisely, and fit to a standard we’re genuinely proud of.

All of our work begins with a conversation and a free home visit – because windows always look different once you’re standing in front of them.

What we do today

Today, Europa Blinds offers the full picture: made to measure blinds and plantation shutters for homeowners, landlords, and small businesses across Bristol, North Somerset, and the wider South West. Every product is supplied and installed by our own team – no subcontractors, no third parties, no gaps in accountability.

Homes and period properties

Bristol’s housing stock is genuinely varied, and we’ve worked in pretty much every type of property it has to offer. Victorian terraces with deep, draughty bay windows. Georgian flats with tall, narrow sashes. Edwardian semis with rooms that get the afternoon sun at an angle no standard blind accounts for. Modern new-builds with tilt-and-turn windows and uPVC frames.

We know how to handle all of them. Our team measures in person, accounts for every architectural quirk, and manufactures to those exact dimensions. The result is a blind or shutter that fits the way it should – flush to the recess, clear of any gap, and easy to operate from day one.

Businesses and landlords

For offices, clinics, schools, and rental properties, we supply Durashade rigid PVC vertical blinds – a commercial-grade solution that’s inherently flame retardant to BS5867, anti-microbial, and built without chains or cords for maximum safety and compliance. Durable, hygienic, and low-maintenance, they’re the specification choice for landlords managing HMOs and business owners who need window treatments that work hard and stay looking good.

How our home visit and fitting service works

Our process is designed to take the stress and guesswork out of window treatments entirely. Here’s what it looks like from start to finish.

Call, email, WhatsApp, or fill in the form on our website. Tell us a bit about your property, your windows, and what you’re hoping to achieve.

One of our team visits your home at a time that suits you. We bring fabric samples and a full understanding of what works for different window types and rooms.

We take time to understand your priorities, whether that’s privacy, light control, thermal performance, or simply finding something that looks beautiful. We’ll make a clear recommendation and explain why.

We give you a clear, itemised quote with no hidden extras. There’s no pressure to proceed, and no charge if you decide it’s not the right time.

Once you’re happy to go ahead, your blinds or shutters are manufactured to your exact specifications. Shutters typically take eight to ten weeks generally; blinds are usually faster.

Our fitters – the same people who measured up – return to install everything. They work cleanly, carefully, and leave the space as they found it.

We’re still here once the job’s done. If anything needs adjusting or you have a question down the line, you know exactly who to call.

Every stage is transparent. Pricing is agreed upfront. And if something unexpected comes up during fitting, we’ll tell you about it and deal with it – not hide it.

Meet the team

The team at Europa Blinds is small by design. That’s not a limitation – it’s a deliberate choice. When a business stays small, it stays accountable.

Tim leads our fitting team and has been installing blinds and shutters across Bristol for years. Customers regularly mention him by name in reviews, which tells you something about the standard he sets. He’s methodical, respectful of people’s homes, and genuinely takes pride in a clean, precise finish.

Tim provides you with honest advice, no pressure, and a willingness to spend proper time understanding what you actually need. If you come in not knowing where to start, you’ll leave with a clear idea of the right direction.

We’ve built relationships with many of our customers that have lasted decades. Some of them have come back for a second home, or sent their children to us. That doesn’t happen if you cut corners.

Frequently asked questions

How far do you travel from Bristol?

We cover Bristol and the surrounding areas, including North Somerset, Bath, South Gloucestershire, and much of the South West. If you’re unsure whether we reach your postcode, just give us a call or drop us a message and we’ll let you know.

No. Our home measure and quote is completely free, and there’s no obligation to proceed. We’ll visit, measure, show you samples, and give you a clear written quote – all at no cost to you. If you decide it’s not the right time, that’s absolutely fine.

It depends on the product. Blinds are typically manufactured and ready to fit within two to three weeks. Plantation shutters take a little longer – usually eight to ten weeks generally – because they’re bespoke joinery made to your exact window measurements. We’ll always give you a clear timeline at the point of order.

Warranties vary by product and supplier. Our plantation shutters come with a 5-year manufacturer warranty as standard. For blinds, we’ll explain the relevant warranty at the point of sale. Beyond the manufacturer guarantee, we back our installation work and will always return to resolve any fitting issue at no charge.

This is genuinely where we earn our reputation. Bristol’s Victorian and Georgian properties often have non-standard window shapes, multiple angles within a single bay, or frames that have moved over the decades. We measure every window individually and manufacture to those exact dimensions. We also fabricate curved vertical blind tracks in-house for complex multi-angled bays. No gaps, no workarounds, no ‘close enough’.

Yes. Motorisation is available across most of our range, including roller blinds and vertical blinds. We can integrate with most major smart home systems and will advise on the best approach for your setup during the home visit.
